Ronchi dei Legionari, February 11, 2026. The vice president of EYOF Lignano 2027, Olympic fencing champion Mara Navarria, met with students and teachers from four classes at the Giovanni Sello Art School in Udine to explain the European Youth Olympic Games and the event's objectives. This will be the second time that Lignano and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region will host the summer edition of this major sporting event dedicated to young people from 50 countries.

The students were asked to create a series of sketches relating to the official mascot of the games. The final choice will be made in the coming days so that the same mascot (and name) can be publicly presented in spring 2026. School management, teachers, and students themselves have expressed their satisfaction with their school’s choice, demonstrating enthusiasm and full cooperation.

Meanwhile, the EYOF 2027 organizing committee continues its work preparing for the various activities. From its offices, it is currently holding a series of remote meetings with officials from the European Olympic Committee. The committee’s technical commission will be in Friuli Venezia Giulia at the end of April for a first major triathlon test event, the “Lignano Eete Triathlon Memorial Ardito.” U18 athletes will also participate in the sprint distances (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run), the same distances as the EYOF 2027 competition program.
